I had spent thousands of dollars while there and got absolutely NO compensation. They wouldn't even make rsvp for a show at another hotel for me and my family. There was no entertainment at the casino and no information pertaining to events, specials, shuttle services between casinos, etc. The room was clean, however no attention to detail. An example, I had to call housekeeping because there was no coffee or cups in the room. When he arrived, the person knocked, handed me a bag and left without saying a word. I felt like a third class visitor and would probably not return again. Very disappointed with the way we were treated.

we stayed @ your showboat location from 8/24-8/27/09 my husband made the reservations as a surprise to celebrate his birthday on 8/24 and our 20th anniversary on 8/25. When we checked in your hotel had us in non smoking and we had to prove with the confirmation my hus printed that he ordered smoking they said there were no more rooms available then 1 min later there was.Now my husband was visibly upset that his plans were going wrong now. When we arrived at our room I opened the curtains and to my surprise we had a breathtaking view of a wall that's it a wall. We proceeded to complain about our room & were told there was nothing that could be done. Your staff from beginning to end is the most unpersonable staff we have ever encountered in any hotels we have stayed over the course of 20 years. We have to rate you by far the worst. I felt so bad for my husband here he planned this surprise to celebrate & I would have complained further to your staff & supervisors but I did not want to upset my husband anymore. He kept on apologizing to me for the horrible room. Your staff was made aware of how important this trip was to us & nobody cared to make it better no apology no kindness no nothing. If that is how you train your staff then somebody better include a smile and a touch of kindness in the rule book. Just because we asked for a smoking room does not make us second class citizens, our money is just as good as non smoking & it paid the bill just the same. When we checked out I advised a supervisor that your check in & check out staff needs to be worked on & her answer was not what was wrong it was I will have to look into that. Thank you for ruining my 20th anniversary which was suppose to be a good memory turned out to be a horror. I will tell everyone traveling to AC not to stay at showboat.

My recent stay (August 2009) at Atlantic City's Showboat Hotel & Casino was the worst hotel experience I have ever encountered. My roommate and I were locked in our rooms from the inside due to a mal-functioning bolt lock which is a huge fire and safety code violation. Even the Locksmith and Security Supervisor accidentally locked themselves in our room while testing it again. This was a very unnerving way of starting my vacation. They showed no guest safety concern and did not acknowledge a problem....I had to work very hard to get my room changed and had a very difficult interaction with the front desk supervisor Maryann. Needless to say, my experience did not improve from there. The room that I was eventually changed to was a different floor but in worse condition than the one before. Absolutely no water pressure at the shower, poor ventilation (smoke) in the casino. I attempted to give Showboat another attempt to make this right by speaking with another front desk supervisor (Rose) who was very supportive, but was given the impression that she had no authority to make this better for me and my guest. She provided me with the name and contact numbers of the hotel manager and hotel director. I left a detailed voice mail message for the director, Mr. J. Welch right after speaking with Rose, but I have yet to hear back or receive an apology for a terrible experience, poor customer service, and acknowledging guest safety concerns. The thought of having to leave my room during a fire or emergency in the middle of the night and not being able to gives me chills. I would hate that another paying customer goes through even half the poor experience I had. P.C., Coral Springs, FL

We stayed at the showboat and the location is not bad, the beach in front is not big and has too much dried up sea weed, if you go down further to the other side of the rides the beach is much cleaner. I was a bit disappointed in the room as it had this mildew smell as if the carpet was never cleaned,it also has this must smoking smell to it even though i am a smoker this smell just didn't sit well with me. I had to have the cleaning lady spray several times.

The room itself was actually nice and and I enjoyed the view other then the smell I did enjoy my stay.

Told the check-in clerk we had requested high floor overlooking ocean. He said the highest they had was tenth floor. We got to the room our view was a large building under construction with dumpsters and cranes.We called desk and told them we wanted ocean view, was informed that was the only room they had. First night, couple next door argued and yelled all night. Second night, children running up and down the hall yelling. Buffet was great!

It is extremely upsetting that I booked my room for 2 beds and got there to be told that I only got one. It wasn't as if I was there with a significant other. I was there with an associate. We were not about to share a room! Not to mention that I checked in at 7:30pm and it still wasn't ready or cleaned! I paid almost $600 for two nights and both were spent on a cot! I proceeded to the front desk and they gave me a fit about my unhappiness. It was as if they didn't care. I will not be back to the Showboat.

The front desk could not find my reservation and were not very accommodating when asked to change our room. We had requested a NON SMOKING room and the room smelled smoky! The room was not clean and did not have cups in the bathroom 2 out of 3 days.
The location of the hotel is at the end of the boardwalk and far from everything worth walking to. Our room faced the parking garage and we paid over $250. per night.

I was very disappointed with this hotel. At my check-in none of the hotel services were explained, such as Total Rewards Card, shuttle services to other hotels and self-parking. I learned about all of these through another guest. Once in the room, the bell hop was rude, hairdryer broken and the view was of a construction site (which you could hear at the early hours of the morning). I asked to be moved ... I was offered a smoking with King Bed, the complete opposite I was staying in. The restaurants were decent, but I ended up going to other casinos for meals. The beach was not as good as was if you walked down the Boardwalk a little way. Also, the roof-top pool is terrible and not what was expected. It was small, round and could only hold twenty people comfortably. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone for any reason.

There is no border between the smoking and non-smoking sections in the casino. While my boyfriend and I walked around, all of a sudden we would be surrounded by smokers. I am asthmatic so this was extremely bothersome to me.

The room was clean, but the sheets on the bed were thin and torn in several spots. The pillows were very feathery and uncomfortable.

Being the Showboat was at the end of the boardwalk, it was not really feasible to walk to other casinos in the cold weather.

Hotel was very nice. The one thing that was not great was places to eat. Everything closed down way to early and restaurants were closed. It would have been nice if Starbucks stayed opened past 10:00pm and Auntie Annie pretzels. The staff for the most part was friendly. I would like to have seen more black jack tables opened with maybe some $5.00 tables. I am not a slot player, but did play slots and I won. Very happy to leave a winner!

We stay at the Showboat yearly for a convention and usually it is perfect for our needs, nothing fancy, but just what we need. We walked into our room this time and realized that it smelled like cigarettes, which ok, I'm a smoker and this was supposed to be a non smoking room due to my husband and brother do not smoke but it was stale cigs all the way. This didn't offend us enough to go through the trouble of changing rooms, we got over it. the next morning when we got up, I took a towel from the rack and the whole thing including some of the drywall and nails came with it and landed on my toe. I was so mad, then the hairdryer didn't work, i called the front desk at 615am and told them about both situations. they said "You should've told us, we would have switched your room", well, Showboat, how would I have noticed this late last night when we got here! They said they would send maintenance up right away, they never came, we left before they did, anyway. When we got back to the room, we did notice the new hairdryer but saw that the wall was rigged up again with the drywall and towel rack...what a joke. we just left it out of the wall. we checked out via the t.v. We will not stay there next year. Yes, because of that. It was annoying and inconvenient and it should not be that way when you pay almost $60 a night in the winter time. UGGH!

The Showboat was a relatively inexpensive place to stay. The casino was ok, and the poker room had action. Breakfast was good at the Mansion Cafe, and the buffet was good too. The rooms at the Orleans Tower were ok, but too far from the main casino floor. The video screen roulette was fantastic. The check in and check out was a breeze. The staff was polite, personable, and very friendly. Not too sure all of my play was tracked. I played a lot, and am not sure I received credit for all of my play. Over all, I would say it's an ok place to stay especially if you plan on visiting other casinos, and going out to other venues.

I went there with a co-worker and our 3 men who have mental disabilities. During check in our clerk was very courteous. We all felt very comfortable and not "out of place" as we have at other hotels. It made our clients feel very "normal" to be out in the public enjoying life just as others do everyday. Even though the men were in wheelchairs we were able to access every area in the hotel along with the casino. We would definitely take them there on vacation again.

I do have a few things that I did want to mention as far as being dissatisfied with.
I came Sunday thru Wednesday and unfortunately a lot of the restaurants there were not open during those days (House of Blues mostly). Also, the indoor pool was not opened!Said it was "closed for the season"! Would this time of year be the season it should be opened?
The rooms were very nice and clean but the beds were some of the most uncomfortable beds I ever slept on in a hotel. I did change rooms once but the new room's bed was not much better.
I stayed at the Showboat because of the House of Blues which I was kinda disappointed with. The music playing was not even blues! I am a blues singer and really was hoping for a more bluesy feel to the place, but the restaurant wasn't even opened on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday!
I would come back to Atlantic City but don't think I'd stay at the same hotel again. The price was great but my back paid a bigger price because of the bed.Being in pain took a lot of the fun out of the trip for me.
