Atlantic City Says Goodbye to 2013
Back in September, Boardwalk Hall hosted the prestigious Miss America Pageant. Nina Davuluri, Miss New York, was crowned Miss America at the pageant, causing a lot of controversy in the media circles. However, the night was amazing, full of all the glitz and glamour you would expect to see at such an auspicious event. This was the first time in eight years the Miss America Pageant was hosted in AC. We very much hope they won’t wait that long until they return to host in our amazing city again.
In 2013, the Garden Pier had its centennial anniversary. Unfortunately, the celebrations were marred due to the devastation Hurricane Sandy poured upon our beloved Atlantic City. The event was postponed.
Back in November, Atlantic City residents voted in our new major, Don Guardian. Mr. Guardian is the first Republican mayor of AC in 10 years. He was finally sworn into office on January 1, 2014. We hope our new mayor will bring more prosperity to our great city.
Also in 2013, the ground was finally broken for the new Harrah’s conference center. The development, costing $125.8, will be cited at the south-western corner of the fabulous Harrah’s casino resort. The conference center promises to bring in new entertainment facilities, official conferences and jobs to the people of AC. We will keep you up to date with all the developments of this project.
In all, 2013 was a fantastic year for Atlantic City. With new hotels, restaurants and more opening up in 2014, we are sure this next year will be as good, if not better than last for our town.
