Disappointment for high end hotel
Oct 25, 2009 By J M
My Review
My shrimp was excellent. My wife showed me three burnt rolls in the bread basket. We ordered appetizers around 11pm. No, I did not complain or say anything to the waiter or management. I put all the burnt rolls on top and waited for someone to comment. No comments from the staff. Perhaps the rolls were a style I never experienced in Indiana.

Those aren't really appetizers, they're just appetizers!

I visited in mid-afternoon, with a coupon for a half-priced appetizer. I was told that, while there's a page of appetizers on the menu, they don't count as appetizers (see review title) and the coupon isn't good until 7pm. So I ordered the French onion soup, a burger, and a coke. The soup was medium-strength beef broth with a bunch of caramelized onions thrown in, a few water-logged croutons, and a white melted covering of a Swiss/mozzarella cheese combo. That's not my idea of French onion soup for seven dollars, but if it's yours, you'll enjoy it. The purported Angus burger was a fine rendition of a less-than-Angus-quality beef burger. The coke was watery. Prices were a few cents to a few dollars under room service prices (read: expensive for mediocre food).

Nothing was poor, but nothing was good enough to recommend.
Diner Quality at Best

My boyfriend and I sat quickly as there were not many people in the restaurant. We both agreed that it resembled a diner. There weren't too many selections on the menu. We had the turkey burger which was good and the turkey club panini. We ordered the chicken sandwich but our waiter brought out the wrong item. We didn't have him make the change. Refills on drinks were not offered and we were done for quite some time before our waiter came over to ask if we were done or wanted anything else. Overall it was an ok experience.

The staff was exceptionally friendly, courteous and overall just great. They all smiled, asked us several times if everything was alright and if there was anything else we would like. They were all in plain sight and made suggestions as to what would be a good meal for us. I would definitely eat there again and recommend the restaurant to our friends.

good breakfast place

This was a good place for breakfast. The food was a little pricey, but that was to be expected in the hotel. Staff were great with refilling coffee without asking. The best deals were to get the combination meals that included juice and coffee, otherwise very expensive for separate drinks.

Absolutely wonderful, from the time of seating to the marvelous attitude of the server and then the food. My husband and I both ordered "Full House" for breakfast, which held us all day and later that evening we visited for dinner and of course the "open face turkey meal" and to top it off the "apple-pie ala mode" is to die for. The next day we order chicken wings and a club sandwich. Never a disappointing meal. Great job "24-Central Cafe", keep up the good work.
